Stop Motion Embroidery

Wood and Linocut

2021

The repetitive nature of carving a block reminds me of walking, each stroke a step. I embroider these prints to trace where my attention outside once was, using stop motion to record this action. Every time a make a stitch, I take a new photo of the print. When these photos play one after the other, my stitches travel across the page on their own, running where I once walked.

The title of each print corresponds to the number of frames/photos taken in each stop motion video.
